Diablo Gumballs is a fantastical candy brand made with a 1930's influenced visual language and conceptual inspirations from Call of Duty: Black ops 3. The brand itself is magical, each gumball flavor grants you supernatural powers. The goal of the project was to create a brand of my own design, creating it from the bottom up; Visual language, purpose, audience, logo, packaging, and merchandise.
The Power
In my opinion, every good brand has a commercial. For this ad i took influence from silent movies, and airheads advertisements that I remember from when i was growing up. I wanted the commercial to be eye-catching, humorous, and direct.
Diablo Gumball Packaging
My packaging was designed for the single supernatural gumball. I really made an effort to make the packaging memorable. I chose to make the box appear living to highlight the magical and whimsical elements around the brand.
Diablo Trading Cards
These trading cards are created to be inside the packaging. i did this as i was influenced by brands such as cracker jack which have a prize inside. as it is an old school candy brand i thought it important to pay a homage to the great candy and snack brands that came before it.
Diablo Merch
This is a collection of deliverables surrounding the project. I chose these based off of my target audience, I thought about what they would want as I targeted a more alternative crowd with a sense of humor. Stickers were a simple and easy option to showcase my mascot and other characters. A skateboard was designed mostly if we are being perfectly honest I wanted to make one. The sweater was designed so fans of the product would be able to showcase it in a stylish way.
Diablo Gumballs Website
All of these items need a place to exist. since diablo gumballs is an expensive item i did not want to feature it in stores. my solution was an online shop where on top of buying the main product you can also learn about the product such as where it comes from, flavors offered, and purchase merchandise.
Pitch Deck
below is my pitch deck for my brand. i thought it was important to showcase because a brand is much more than a logo, each brand has a lot of thought and intention behind it.
